I am 31, I have been working with 3D graphics ever since I turned 16. I started as an amateur when the term 3D was not as popular as it is now, when I had to explain what it was, its basics, its structure and the principles of its work. I started working with 3D when it only had begun working with PC platforms. But even now 3D still remains a mystery to many people.
I don’t have any artistic education, my education is not connected to creativity at all. I do everything based on my own taste and my sense of balance. I never wanted to commercialize my works. I consider myself a free creative person, since I rarely agree to take on outside projects, because most of the time those projects are not interesting to me. And most of those projects smell with our day-to-day gray reality rotating around money. I tend to draw fantasy, the world of fairy tales, I do not like dark gray colors, scary monsters and violence, I love light and warmth.
I take long time to finish my works, that is why I don’t have many. Each one I create step by step with long breaks in between. I can even stop working on a project for several years, but then come back to it again. Almost all of my projects are unfinished. I am afraid to say: that’s all, done. I never finish anything. I can always go back and change something, add, improve.
I also rarely publish my works on the Internet, I do it only on a few sites dedicated to 3D graphics. One of them is the most famous on Russian Internet – render.ru where I have won a couple awards.
I treat 3D graphics as an art, regardless of opinions of many people from the past saying that it is far from art. The people who say that have never experienced sleepless nights while working on 3D projects, they do not know what it’s like to forget about food and just be tied to a computer screen for hours loosing energy. Like any other art, 3D does consumes your emotional and creative energy. And since it does consume it, it has to be transferred into a creative artistic result.
As to the question if this type of art is difficult, I always say: probably not, if you dedicate your whole life to it.
So respect every type of art, regardless of the means by which it was created: with a paint brush on canvas or by a render on a computer.
